Science Events Across The Valley
The Annual Hispanic Engineering, Science and Mathematics week will be held in September 22-27 of 2008 at the University of Texas Pan-American in Edinburg. This conference is always an excellent opportunity for teachers, students and the community to learn about science, engineering and technology opportunities. The Rio Grande Valley Science Association will again sponsor information about the RGV Science Fair and other RGVSA opportunities. Information is available at http://www.hestec.org/ |
Wild Walk-Outdoor Adventure will be held on October 12th & 13th of this year hosted by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce with the hopes of reaching 4,000 children (2,000 per day). Over 20 animal and nature friendly organizations from across Texas and the Valley such as: Texas Parks & Wildlife, U.S. Fish & Wildlife and Texas Forest Service along with many other organizations will provide students and the community with an appreciation for these not always admired creatures, and also provide a better understanding of how to preserve our environment and share our planet. School children are not the only ones that benefit. School instructors will have the opportunity to obtain Continuing Professional Education hours “CPE’s” from the Texas Education Agency in the areas of environment and science. If you are interested in being part of this great event, please feel free to contact; Nohemi Marroquin, Festival Coordinator at (956) 682-2871 ext. 3017. |
